Event Alert System

The Spring Run-Off will be using a colour-coded Event Alert System (EAS) at this year’s event to communicate the status of course conditions to event staff and participants leading up to and on race day.

The levels range from Low (GREEN) to Moderate (YELLOW) to High (RED) to Extreme (BLACK) based on a variety of factors, including weather and event conditions. All event staff and participants should familiarize themselves with the Event Alert System colour indicators prior to the race, remain alert for directions from race officials, announcers and staff and take precautions to prepare for varying weather and event conditions on race day.

Event staff and participants should stay tuned to the current Event Alert System status via email, announcements and the colour-coded flags at the Help Desk in the Pre-Race Area and at the Water & Aid Stations on course on race day.

Kill the Hill

Who are the best hill runners in Canada Running Series? Who will be crowned the Super Heroes of the Hill at this year’s Spring Run-Off? For over 40 years, runners have been conquering High Park’s Spring Road Hill in the final 365 metres of the Spring Run-Off. This year we want you to ‘Kill the Hill’ and give it everything you’ve got in those last 365m as part of our Kill The Hill Challenge!

Back by popular demand, we will be offering a separate, complete set of race results for that 365m section up the legendary hill. For both 8K and 5K you’ll be able to compare your hill-running strength against Canadian Running stars, as well as your club and crew friends.

Times will be calculated via Sportstats Race Results timing mats in the final 365m of the race and prizes will be awarded to the top man, woman and non-binary athletes in both the 8K and 5K distances, including on-stage photo opportunity with Super Hero capes! Check the results at sportstats.ca after the race to see if you’re in the running to be the Hero of the Hill. Winners will be announced during our Awards Ceremony beginning at 11:50 a.m.

We want to know who’s got the most pep left in their step as they make their way up Spring Road Hill, carried by the deafening cheers of spectators, family and friends, to the finish line.

*Everyone who registers for the Spring Run-Off will be automatically entered into the challenge, though the elite participants will be excluded from the awards.
