Baby Strollers

Q: Where do I start the 10K if I’m participating with a Baby Stroller?
A: All baby strollers will start at the back of the last corral.

Q: What do I do with the “STROLLER” bib?
A: The STROLLER bib should be attached to your back so that other participants know you are pushing a stroller. The numbered bib should be attached to your front. Please note — you will only receive 1 runner shirt and 1 finisher medal for this category.

Confirmation Email

Q: I don’t have my confirmation email, how do I pick-up my race kit?
A: You can bring the original registration email confirmation AND/OR a piece of photo ID to packet pickup to pick-up your race kit.


Q: How do I know which corral I should start in?
A: You will be organized in coloured corrals based on the expected finishing time you provided on your registration form. Your assigned corral will be indicated by a coloured stripe on your bib. On race day, enter your corral at the coloured flags that correspond to your bib.

Q: Can I change my corral?
A: If a corral change is required, send an email to crswest@canadarunningseries.com by Thursday, August 29th or visit the Help Desk at packet pickup or on race day.

Q: Can someone else pick-up my race kit for me?
A: A friend or family member can pick up your race kit provided they have your email confirmation AND a permission letter.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to claim my race kit?

Q: Can I pick up my race kit on race day?
A: Race day pick-up is available for out-of-town runners ONLY. If you are picking up your kit on race day, we suggest arriving 90 minutes before race start, as this is a very busy time and the lines can be long. We cannot delay the race start for those who have not picked up their race kit.

Q: What do I get with my registration? 
A: You will receive an exclusive Under Armour Eastside 10k participant shirt, finisher medal, personalized race bib, and complimentary race photos.

Q: Can I get a refund? 
A: Entries are non-refundable.

Q: Can I transfer my entry to another person?
A: Yes, you can transfer your entry to another person. Please email our registration partner at support@raceroster.com. The deadline for making changes online is midnight Friday, August 30th. After that time, all changes must be made in person at the Help Desk during Packet Pickup. There is a $10 fee to make a transfer.

To transfer a bib in person, you must have a letter (email is fine) from the original runner indicating intention to transfer a bib, as well as the original runner’s entry confirmation letter. Make sure to bring a method of payment (cash or card) for the $10 transfer fee. It is the responsibility of the individuals to arrange exchange of the original registration fee.

Please note, shirts are allocated based on the original registrant’s shirt choice. We will do our best to accommodate shirt size exchanges for transferred entries based on size availability.

Q: How can I change my address or contact information after I’ve registered?
A: Please email support@raceroster.com. Deadline for making changes online is midnight Friday, August 31st. After that time, all changes must be made in person at the Help Desk during Packet Pickup.

Q: How can I change my corral and estimated finishing time?

Q: Where will the results be posted?
A: All results will be posted after the race on the homepage.

Q: Are the results based on chip time?
A: Yes, results are based on chip time — the total time from when you cross the start line timing mat to when you cross the finish line timing mat.

Q: Can I exchange my shirt size?
A: Yes, shirt exchanges can be done after the race until 11:00 a.m. in the party site. Only unwashed, unworn shirts will be accepted for exchange.

Entry Policies

Entries are non-refundable, non-deferrable, and cannot be transferred between races.

It is a Canada Running Series policy that entries are non-refundable, non-deferrable, and non-transferable between races. Entries may be transferred between participants within the same event. It is the responsibility of the entrant to pick up their packet from registration. Packets will not be mailed prior to or after the event. After the event has taken place T-shirts may not be available, and prior to the event are available on a “first-come, first-served” basis.

The transfer of a registration to another participant must be done by logging into our official registration platform here. Only transfers through Race Roster will be accepted as this is the only way to securely manage the transfer of a bib from one participant to another.

Service Animal Policy

Service animals are the only animals permitted on course.

Trained, accredited service animals (animals trained to assist individuals with a medical or physical disability) may be permitted on course, provided that the procedures below are followed.

  1. Accreditation documentation by a recognized Assistance Animal program or equivalent. Only working animals (not including retired, trainee and companion animals), are permitted on course.
  2. The service animal must wear an identification harness for the duration of the event.
  3. The owner is responsible to clean up after their service animal.
  4. Race officials have the right to refuse participation if the service animal poses a safety concern.

Participants Requiring a Support Person

Toronto & Montreal Events

  1. The participant will register using the online registration system.
  2. Please contact info@canadarunningseries.com to provide your support person’s name and contact information.
  3. Your guide has 2 options:
    1. The guide can participate in the event at no cost.  They will need to complete the event waiver and wear the event “GUIDE” bib on their back.
    2. The guide can pay the full registration fee.  They will receive the event shirt, bib with timing chip & finisher medal.  They will need to wear the event “GUIDE” bib on their back.
  4. When the participant picks up their race kit, they will receive the additional “GUIDE” bib.

Wheelchair Participation

Participants requiring the use of a wheelchair are encouraged to register for the following events:

  • Banque Scotia 21K de Montreal
  • lululemon Toronto 10K
  • Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5K (only racing chairs permitted in the half-marathon distance — please contact race organizers)
  • Under Armour Eastside 10K

Due to the steep hills and narrow paths, we do not encourage participants requiring the use of a wheelchair to register for the following events:

  • Under Armour Spring Run-Off 8K & 5K
  • Oasis ZooRun 10K, 5K & Cub Run

Please note:

  • Motorized wheelchairs are permitted in the 5K events
    • must not exceed a speed of 5km/hour
    • must not exceed 40″ length x 30″ wide
  • Handcycles are not permitted
  • Early start times will not be permitted

General Etiquette

  • Check your registration information carefully; if a correction needs to be made, contact info@canadarunningseries.com at least 3 weeks prior to the event date. After this date, please see the Help Desk at packet pickup to make the correction.
  • Read the emails you have been sent from the Canada Running Series, many of your questions will be answered.
  • All participants have a collective responsibility to keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
  • Arrive early on race day, especially if you are picking up your race package. Remember that there are thousands of people going through the same process; parking, baggage check, bathroom, etc.
  • For the safety of all participants, baby carriers, skateboards, roller blades, Kangoo Jump shoes, animals and unauthorized bicycles and wheeled devices are not permitted in any of the Canada Running Series races. You will NOT be permitted to start the race.
  • Pin your race bib on your front so it is visible for race officials and photographers.
  • Age category prizing is awarded based on Chip Time. Corral changes can be done via email to info@canadarunningseries.com at least 3 weeks prior or at the Help Desk during packet pickup or on race day.
  • Say “Thank you” to as many volunteers as possible.

Race Etiquette

  • Line up in your assigned corral based on how fast you plan to run or walk the event. Slower participants should position themselves at the back of the corral.
  • If you need to shed layers of clothing at the start of the race, tie them around your waist or put them on the side of the road where no one will trip over them. If you drop your clothing, don’t expect to get it back. We will collect all discarded clothing and donate it to charity.
  • Run or walk no more than two abreast.
  • If you are walking in a group, stay to the back of the pack and walk two abreast.
  • If you want to pass someone, say “excuse me” or “on your left” and pass on the left.
  • If you hear someone say “excuse me” or “on your left”, move to the right and allow the person to pass without blocking their effort.
  • If you need to stop for any reason (tie your shoe, stretch, etc.), put your hand up to alert those behind you and move to the side of the road.
  • Yield the right of way to all police and emergency vehicles. Yield the course to wheelchair athletes, as you can change direction or stop more quickly than they can (especially on a downhill).
  • If you are wearing headphones, please keep them at a low volume so you can hear instructions from race officials and/or emergency personnel.
  • Bodily functions are a fact of life. If you need to spit, blow your nose, etc., move to the side of the road and do it there.
  • Don’t put loose change in your jacket pocket — it is very distracting for other runners around you.

Water Station Etiquette

  • When approaching a water station, move to the side of the road, grab your fluid/nutritional needs and keep moving. There will be multiple tables so if the first table is busy KEEP MOVING.
  • Throw your used cup to the side of the road as close to the water station as possible. Drop your cup down by your waist so you don’t hit/splash another participant.
  • If you plan to stop at the water station, move past the tables and pull off to the side of the road.
  • If you see someone in distress on the course, report their bib number to the water station and let them know where you saw them (if it is serious, consider staying with the person).

Finish Line Etiquette

  • As you approach the finish line, if you are listening to something on your headphones, please turn it off so that you can hear the instructions through the finish chute.
  • Follow the instructions of the race officials in the finish chute.
  • The course and finish area are closed for registered participants only. Please DO NOT bring your friends, family and/or children through the finish chute with you.
  • Once you have crossed the finish line be considerate of those behind you and keep moving forward until you exit the finish chute.
  • Plan to meet family and friends outside the finish chute at a pre-determined location. The finish area is a very busy place, choose a specific location to meet (friends & family area, specific sponsor tent, etc.). Do NOT plan to meet them within the finish chute, you will be asked to move along.

Spectator Etiquette

  • Please be respectful of all participants and stay behind the fencing at both the start & finish areas. We appreciate that you want to be with your runner or meet them as soon as possible, however these are very busy areas which must be designated for Runners Only.
  • Completing a race of any distance is physically taxing and participants can’t predict how their body will react. Please refrain from allowing children to finish the race with the runners, for their safety and the safety of the other participants.
  • Spectators have the ability to influence the participant experience. Please keep this in mind when preparing signs and cheering words of encouragement.

Please remember that our events are staffed primarily by volunteers, but there is always a race official nearby. If you have ideas for improving an event or concerns you would like to address, share them with the race official in a positive and productive manner. Feedback is also much appreciated through our post-event surveys or by email at info@canadarunningseries.com.

Environmental Responsibility

Vancouver Eastside 10K follows guidelines provided by the Council for Responsible Sport. Goals for an environmentally responsible event are:

  • All discarded clothing from Start Area is collected and donated to shelter programs
  • Surplus food remaining after the event is donated to local food banks
  • Proximity to transit reduces single occupancy vehicle trips
  • Water conservation methods are used on course and at Finish Area
  • Marketing materials are printed using biodegradable inks on FSC certified paper
  • Over 50% of provided food is locally produced, all is purchased locally
  • Recycling and composting facilities will be at the Finish Area, with the goal of diverting 90+% of all waste

Help us Run Green by following these tips:

  • If you can, leave your car at home – the start line is close to transit and free bike-valet services will be offered. If driving, consider carpooling with some friends.
  • Only take what you need — a lot of uneaten food is thrown away at events.
  • This applies to the water stations too — only take a cup if you need a drink.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle and refill at marked stations.
  • Recycle, recycle, and recycle! Clearly labelled recycling stations will be located on the route and in the finish area. They will be supervised by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Take all your waste and recycling to these stations — don’t litter on the course!
  • Don’t forget to recycle all items that you take home from the event. All materials are compostable or recyclable! If you’re unsure simply ask our volunteers before you leave!
  • Bring your small hard-to-recycle items from home for recycling. Green Chair are offering all runners and spectators free recycling for batteries, cell phones, small electronics and lightbulbs.
