We know the feeling all too well, you signed up for your race ages ago and now it’s snuck up on you with only one week to go. Here’s a few things to know to get ready for race day:
What to wear:
Make sure you’re prepared for whatever the weather may be on race day. We’ve put in a request to mother nature for beautiful sunny skies like last year! If you’re in need of a new pair of running shoes or gear, our sponsor Under Armour will have HOVR Sonic running shoes for trial and purchase at the packet pick up. If it rains, make sure you layer up, wear quick drying gear, and wear a hat to keep the rain out of your face.
A new challenge this year:
New this year is our “race within the race,” as we attempt to take the most feared part of the course and turn it into a (questionably) fun & memorable experience! There is a tedious mid-race hill from the bottom of Dundas Street to the very top of Pandora Park. This year we want YOU to ‘Kill the Hill’ and give it everything you’ve got over a gruelling 700m challenge! Let us know how you do on social media using #Killthehill. Starting at the official Sportstats 5km timing mat, we will be offering a separate, complete set of results for the legendary hill.
How to share your race pics:
Did you even really do the run if you don’t have a picture to prove it? We are happy to announce that all race photos will be complimentary for participants of the Under Armour Eastside 10K again in 2018. Wow! Share your experience on social media with fellow runners before, during, and after the run using #UAEastside10K. Not only are we excited to see the run from your perspective, but we want you to show the world why the Under Armour Eastside 10K is one of the best races in Vancouver.
In addition to race day, there will be Instagram-worthy photo opportunities at the packet pick up on Friday as well. Don’t miss out.
Who you are supporting:
The Under Armour Eastside 10K brings the community together to support three amazing charities – The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and PHS Community Services Society. Last year our record crowd of runners raised $17,000 and this year we are on pace to exceed that.
We look forward to seeing you all on race day!
