Race Day Policies

MEDICAL INCIDENT 

In the Event of a Medical Emergency or Non-Emergency: 

  • Call Medical Dispatch 1-800-444-1017 

OR 

  • If you have a radio, notify via radio 
  • Radio message:
  • You: “Medical, Medical, do you copy?”
  • Medical: “Go for Medical” 

Describe medical situation, location and follow the medical dispatcher’s instructions and questions. 

FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: If you cannot reach the 1-800 number after two attempts call 9-1-1. 

CHECKLIST FOR REPORTING A MEDICAL INCIDENT: 

  • STAY calm, speak clearly and concisely 
  • STAY ON THE LINE with Medical until they have instructed you to disconnect 
  • STAY WITH THE PERSON requiring medical assistance until you have been cleared by Odyssey Medical 
  • Use LANDMARKS around you like intersections, building names and addresses, etc…
  • Odyssey Medical will deploy services as required

MISSING PERSON

  • Introduce yourself & let them know you are going to help them.
  • Radio “THIS IS AN ALL CALLWe have a Missing Person” or call 1-800-444-1017. 
  • Follow the instructions you receive on the radio/phone.
  • Take them to the closest announcer area: start, finish or Race Central.
  • Never use the Lost Person’s name publicly.

SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES

  • CLAIM: Ask if anyone in the area claims the item. If no one claims it, then go to the next step.
  • COP: Tell the nearest police officer about the bag. If there isn’t a police officer nearby, go to the next step.
  • CALL: If there isn’t a police officer nearby, call 1-800-444-1017. If you cannot reach this number after two attempts call 9-1-1.
  • DO NOT TOUCH OR MOVE THE PACKAGE.
  • Quietly move people from the package without causing a disruption or panic.

For any MEDIA you see on-site, or who approach you: 

START – Contact Kate (Campfire Circle) on the Radio (Start Channel) or call 647-299-7639

FINISH/POST-RACE – Contact John (Campfire Circle) on the Radio (Finish/Post-Race Channel) or call 647-286-7675

Person #2 (receiver) to Person #1 (caller) – Person #2 (receiver) do you copy?  Over

This is Person #2, go ahead Person #1

  • Be BRIEF, LISTEN & SPEAK concisely
  • ACKNOWLEDGE the receipt of all messages
  • ENSURE your radio volume is set at a comfortable level
  • NO SWEARING
  • NO SHOUTING
  • NO REPEATED CALLS
  • DO NOT MOVE CHANNELS

EVACUATION PLAN

  • Follow the directions of the Police, Race Management, and/or your radio Dispatcher
  • If in immediate danger, evacuate to a safe location.
  • If you self-evacuate or are part of a larger evacuation, once you are safe, call 1-800-444-1017.
  • Instructions will be issued to the event team via radio and/or text message.
