Can I participate with my support device?

Virtual:

We want you to move and stay active in any way you feel comfortable and that you can guarantee your safety. Please make sure you observe the proper road safety measures, obey traffic signals and participate at a level and speed that is suitable for your training.

In-Person:

Can I participate in a wheelchair?

Due to the steep hills and narrow paths, we do not encourage participants requiring the use of a wheelchair to register.

Can I participate with my handcycle?

Handcycles are not permitted to be used

Can I participate with my Nexus Rollator Walker?

Yes, you are able to participate with a Nexus Rollator Walker.

Can I participate with my motorized wheelchair?

Motorized wheelchairs are permitted in the 5K event. They must not exceed a speed of 5km/hour and must not exceed 40″ length x 30″ wide.

Do you have any Safety Tips for the Virtual Event?

Virtual Race Safety Tips 

  • Avoid high traffic pedestrian and vehicle areas. Run or walk close to home in your neighbourhood during a quieter time of day.
  • Complete your run on a treadmill, if this is an option that is available to you and that you would prefer.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. Be visible and dress for the weather.
  • Bring water and/or nutrition if you’re planning a longer route.
  • Carry a cell phone with you during your virtual race and tell someone the route you’re running in case of an emergency.

Where can I participate in the Virtual Race?

Wherever you are! The joy of a Virtual Race is that you can start right outside your front door. In order to avoid crowds and to adhere to social distancing we urge that you not follow the original route. Please follow the guidelines outlined by your local government regarding recreating outdoors to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe. Follow normal street lights and traffic regulations like any typical solo training that you do.

Can I participate with a Support Person?

Please note, only those registered individuals will receive a race kit.

In-Person:

Yes! The participant will register using the online registration system.
Please contact info@canadarunningseries.com to provide your support person’s name and contact information by March 23rd, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

Your guide has 2 options:
1. The guide can participate in the event at no cost. They will need to complete the event waiver and wear two “GUIDE” bibs, one on their front, and one on their back.
2. The guide can pay the full registration fee. They will receive the event shirt, bib with timing chip & finisher’s medal. They will need to wear the event “GUIDE” bib on their back.
When the participant picks up their race kit, they will receive the additional “GUIDE” bib(s).

Can I participate with a support animal?

Service Animal Policy
Service animals are the only animals permitted on course.
Trained, accredited service animals (animals trained to assist individuals with a medical or physical disability) may be permitted on course, provided that the procedures below are followed.
– Accreditation documentation by a recognized Assistance Animal program or equivalent. Only working animals (not including retired, trainee and companion animals), are permitted on course.
– The service animal must wear an identification harness for the duration of the event.
– The owner is responsible to clean up after their service animal.
– Race officials have the right to refuse participation if the service animal poses a safety concern.

Please note that the required documentation is to be submitted at least one week prior to the event. All documentation and inquiries should be directed to info@canadarunningseries.com.
