Support the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy
Your Toronto Zoo is a leader in conservation and species survival, actively engaged in the fight against extinction. Our vision is a world where wildlife and wild spaces thrive, and your participation in the 2024 Oasis ZooRun will bring us one step closer to our vision becoming a reality. This year’s run is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the recent birth of a male white rhino calf born at your Toronto Zoo and the vital work your Zoo is doing to secure the sustainability of rhino populations under human care.
White rhinos are classified as Near Threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. With fewer than 16,000 left in the wild, it is important to support initiatives that protect them and raise awareness. Your Toronto Zoo is currently home to four white rhinos, is an active participant in the White Rhino Species Survival Plan (SSP)® and supports field conservation efforts for the species.
The Oasis ZooRun has raised over $700,000 in the past to support wildlife conservation work being done by your Toronto Zoo. This includes preserving endangered species, breeding, and reintroducing endangered animals into the wild and creating opportunities to reconnect people with nature. This year’s goal is to raise $75,000, which will continue to support these efforts. Additionally, 50% of funds raised will support the International Rhino Foundation through the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy’s Wilding Endangered Species Fund, furthering your Toronto Zoo’s conservation efforts worldwide.
The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy is a dedicated partner with the Toronto Zoo in the fight against extinction, established in 2019 to secure increased financial resources and support for the wildlife conservation work being done by the Toronto Zoo. Extinction is forever, and the Zoo’s work in fighting extinction through research, public engagement, education, breeding, and reintroduction programs is vital to wildlife, to us, and to our world. You can donate directly to the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy during registration or share your fundraising page with friends and family to collect pledges.
