Directions & Parking

The 5K and Half Marathon start at UBC, on Marine Drive at Agronomy Rd. The 5K is an out-and-back course, and finishes in the same location. The half marathon finishes in Kitsilano, at the Museum of Vancouver (1100 Chestnut St).

Parking:

Parking for the start line at UBC is available in the UBC West Parkade (2140 Lower Mall). Accessible parking is available – park on level 4 for accessible parking to street access.

Limited parking is available at and near the Museum of Vancouver (1100 Chestnut St) for the half marathon finish area and the Kids Race.

Transit:

Use the Translink Trip Planner to plan your journey to the start line on race morning. Please plan time to get from the UBC bus loop to the start line – expect a 15-minute walk.

We’ve added three additional buses to help our half marathon participants get to UBC in time for race start:

Two additional #99 buses will leave Commercial-Broadway Stn. at 6:10am and 6:25am respectively

One additional #25 bus will leave King Edward and Cambie Stn at 6:15am.

EVO:

Use the EVO app to find Evo parking locations at UBC. https://evo.ca/FAQ#How-does-parking-at-UBC-work

Bike Parking:

Bike racks will be available for participants and spectators at the half marathon finish area, near the Museum of Vancouver. Cyclists should plan to bring their own lock – bike valet will not be available in 2023.

Shuttles:

Paid Shuttles: A paid shuttle is available for half marathon participants from downtown Vancouver, near waterfront station, to the start line at UBC. Tickets can be purchased during registration or by clicking here. Shuttles tickets are available until sold out.

Free shuttles: New for 2023! There is a limited free shuttle service for participants between the Museum of Vancouver in Kitsilano (half marathon finish line) and UBC (5K and half marathon start line). The first shuttle will leave the Museum of Vancouver at 6am, and run every 15-20 minutes until 11:30am. This is a great option for local residents within walking or biking distance, however those driving should plan to drive directly to the start line at UBC to ensure a timely arrival and ample parking options. There is limited parking available at the Museum of Vancouver.

Shuttles are only available for race participants, and participants must show their race bib to access the shuttle service.

Participants planning to use the shuttle to get to the half marathon start line should arrive at the Museum of Vancouver no later than 6:30am.

Participants planning to use the shuttle to get to the 5K race should arrive at the Museum of Vancouver no later than 8:30am.

The Vancouver Half Marathon is not responsible for participants missing their race start time due to arriving late to the shuttles.

IMPORTANT! Pro tip – Reduce your start line stress! Half marathon participants that are driving or carpooling should plan to drive directly to the UBC start line and then take the shuttle back after their race. There is limited parking at the Museum of Vancouver, however there are numerous parking options at UBC. Save the stress for pushing for that PB!

Road Closures

If you are planning to drive to the Vancouver Half Marathon, please be aware of the following road closures on Race Day.

EVENT NOTICE
INTERACTIVE MAP

Event Alert System

The Vancouver Half Marathon will be using a colour-coded Event Alert System (EAS) at this year’s event to communicate the status of course conditions to event staff and participants leading up to and on race day.

The levels range from Low (GREEN) to Moderate (YELLOW) to High (RED) to Extreme (BLACK) based on a variety of factors, including weather and event conditions. All event staff and participants should familiarize themselves with the Event Alert System colour indicators prior to the race, remain alert for directions from race officials, announcers and staff and take precautions to prepare for varying weather and event conditions on race day.

Event staff and participants should stay tuned to the current Event Alert System status via email, announcements and the colour-coded flags at the Help Desk in the Pre-Race Area and at the Water & Aid Stations on course on race day.
